Terms of Service
Effective date: July 1, 2026
1. What This Site Is
ProductMetrics (productmetrics.org) is operated by Roarke Clinton. The content reference site provides definitions, formulas, benchmarks, and examples for product metrics. It is free to use and does not require an account. ProductMetrics also operates a metrics platform, a separate invite-only beta that requires an account and is governed by the platform sections below.
2. Development Preview
ProductMetrics is under active development. Content, metric definitions, formulas, benchmarks, and features may be added, revised, or removed without notice. API responses and URL structure may change while we iterate, and the site may be temporarily unavailable during updates.
You should verify any metric definition or formula before relying on it for a consequential decision. If you spot something that looks wrong, please send feedback via the widget in the bottom-right of every page.
3. Platform Accounts (Beta)
The metrics platform is an invite-only beta. There is no open signup. To request access, email team@productmetrics.org. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account.
The platform carries the same development-preview status as the rest of the site: features may be added, revised, or removed without notice, the service may be temporarily unavailable, and we offer no SLA or availability guarantee during the beta. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service.
4. Tracker & Customer Responsibilities
The platform tracker (pm.js) runs on your website and collects data about your visitors. If you install it, you agree to the following:
- Install the tracker only on sites you own or control.
- You are responsible for obtaining your visitors’ consent and for your own site’s privacy disclosures. Our servers drop event batches that are not marked consent-granted, but that safeguard does not discharge your obligation. The documented install pattern is to load the tracker after your consent gate.
- Do not send personal data in custom event payloads.
- We may reject or rate-limit traffic from any site or sender.
5. Content Accuracy
We strive to provide accurate and up-to-date metric definitions, formulas, and benchmarks. However, this content is provided for informational purposes only. You should verify any metric definitions or formulas before using them for business decisions.
Benchmarks are industry approximations and may not reflect your specific context, market, or product category.
6. Intellectual Property
The metric definitions, formulas, and explanations on this site are original works. You may reference and link to them freely. If you reproduce substantial portions of our content, please provide attribution.
7. API Usage
This site provides read-only API endpoints for programmatic access to metric and framework data. You may use these endpoints for reasonable purposes. We reserve the right to rate-limit or block access that places excessive load on our infrastructure, and platform ingest endpoints are rate-limited per site and per sender.
8. Limitation of Liability
This site is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of this site or reliance on its content.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaii, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
